After raising a family, Deb realized her joy in mentoring and engaging with teenagers. In 2002, Spanish River Community High School recruited Deb to design and develop the now widely-recognized Entrepreneurial Academy. She was lead teacher of the academy for over 15 years and taught Accounting, Financial Operations, Business Law, AICE Business Studies, and AICE Travel and Tourism. After guiding the program to its current success and making Spanish River DECA the second-largest chapter in the world, she retired in 2018 and now pursues college consulting and academic planning full-time. Deb Carter was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and spent her early years in Boston while her father taught at Harvard Medical School. Moving in elementary school, she was raised in Augusta, Georgia and went to high school in Switzerland where she discovered her passion for travel. Returning to the United States to attend the University of Georgia, Deb received her degree in accounting and practiced as a CPA for six years.
She is married to local attorney, David A. Carter. They are the parents of four children and the grandparents of two, so far. Their oldest son, Dax, graduated from Northwestern University in 2000, and Florida State University College of Law in 2003. He currently practices securities arbitration law. Their second son, Harrison, graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005, and holds a MA in Social Science from the University of Chicago in Anthropology. He has been a research fellow and guest lecturer at Sudan University in China. Their third son, Matthew, is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and has a masters in Forensic Accounting and Asset Valuation from Florida Atlantic University. He is currently a Financial Planning Analyst for a local manufacturing company.Their only daughter, Cari, graduated from the College of Charleston and is a third grade teacher at Sandpiper Shores Elementary School and currently works along her mother with Carter Education.

Carrington (cari) carter
As mentioned in Mrs. Carter's bio, Cari is the youngest of her four children. Cari was born in Des Moines, Iowa and moved to Boca Raton area at the age of 3. Raised in Boca Raton, Cari graduated from Spanish River High School. She went on to graduate from the College of Charleston (South Carolina) with a degree in Anthropology and Archeology.
Seven years ago, Cari returned to her first passion and her original major in college: education. She has been a teacher at Sandpiper Shores Elementary ever since. She is presently teaching 3rd grade. Currently taking coursework to enhance her abilities to help students K-12 in reading comprehension, Cari is also working on her Masters in Education, Guidance.
She holds certifications above the normal state requirements that assist her in teaching students reading and reading comprehension. Her patience with all students is an asset to Carter Education along with her expertise in study skills and helping students with their focus.
